Dr. Liana Tsenova is Associate Professor at the Biological Sciences Department at NYC College of Technology.
She has received her M.D. degree and specialty in Microbiology and Immunology from the Medical Academy of Sofia, Bulgaria.
In 1993 Dr. Tsenova came to the Rockefeller University, NY with an international John Fogarty fellowship and later continued
her postdoctoral training there. For more than 20 years she has studied the immune response to tuberculosis and other
infections, role of cytokines, design of immune-modulatory therapy, and evaluation of new anti-TB candidate vaccines.
Dr. Tsenova joined City Tech in 2008. She serves at the Undergraduate Research Committee and works as a mentor for undergraduate
students. She is interested in collaborative interdisciplinary projects, combining microbiology and infectious diseases
with chemistry and mathematics, to address unresolved epidemiologic, ecologic and healthcare problems. She is actively
involved with SENCER. She has co-authored more than 50 publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals and chapters
and has numerous conference presentations. She also works as adjunct faculty at the PHRI at Rutgers the State University
of New Jersey. Currently she is the Interim Program Coordinator of the BS Degree Program in Radiology at the Department
of Radiologic Technology and Medical Imaging. Dr. Tsenova serves as the Project Director/PI on the National Institute
of Health Bridges to the Baccalaureate grant.
